Hello,
Ubuntu recently announced the release of Ubuntu 14.04 "Trusty Tahr".
As usual, we hurried to offer it as soon as possible, and so it's already
available upon reinstallation for dedicated servers!
The latest features added to the installation system, such as the choice of kernel
(the latest OVH kernel or 3.13 of Ubuntu), have been integrated.
This version of Ubuntu benefits from Long Term Support (LTS) and will thus be
actively supported for the next 5 years.
In terms of cloud and virtualisation, Ubuntu 14.04 integrates OpenStack 2014.1
(Icehouse), Xen 4.4, Qemu 2.0.0 and LXC 1.0.
The "LAMP" stack versions are:
- MySQL 5.5, MySQL 5.6, MariaDB 5.5
- Apache 2.4
- PHP 5.5
For more details, please consult the Release Notes:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/TrustyTahr/ReleaseNotes
As always, it's a basic 64-bit installation with only the SSH and DNS services preinstalled.
A Desktop version with x 2 GB for remote desktop usage is currently in preparation and will be offered in the coming weeks.
The new Ubuntu is currently in beta version, please don't hesitate to leave us your comments here.
Kind regards,
Félix.
