I must admit that I did not look at OVH's website itself. My source of info was this forum and posts by OVH staff about the 3 free months promo.

Regardless, considering that I am 2 months short of the 12 month ownership requirement, shouldn't OVH consider the requirement met if I renew for 15 months (I offered to pay for 3 more months - in addition to my 12 month renewal last week)? Can't they pretend that I renewed for 3 months now and then, for 12 months in September 2014? They'll have all 15 months prepaid to start with.

My point is that there is the letter of the law and there is the spirit of the law. While my proposal may not meet the letter of their law/policy, it sure does meet the spirit. Is there any way I can make OVH see this and agree to it?

Thanks,
MediocreFred.

Although, I think they've worded it bum-about-face as though to gain sales!!

My apologies in advance for posting here. My account is with ovh.ie, but, since their forum is eerily silent and this one isn't, I feel that the chances of getting some sympathy, or, heaven forbid, actual action, are much higher here.

I signed up for an mSP last August and got it delivered on August 15th 2013. My initial signup was for a month. The first renewal was for 3 months (ending Dec 15th) and the next was for 6 months (ending June 15th, 2014).

Earlier this week, I was browsing this forum and came across the "renew for 12 months and get 3 months free" promo/offer. So, I promptly renewed for 12 months. Was hoping to see the next expiration date move out to Sep 15th 2015, but, it stayed at June 15th, 2015.

I emailed support@ovh.ie and got a response back stating that there is indeed a catch! The 3 free months applies only for servers that have been held/owned for more than 12 months. So, if I had extended by 3 months (to push my lease duration to > 12 months) and then paid for another 12 months, I would have received the 3 free months.

Seemed weird, but, whatever. So, I responded stating that had I was willing to pay for another 3 months now (and if we both (ovh and me) pretended that I made the 12 month payment AFTER the 3 month payment), I should be able to get the 3 free months. Another option I suggested was that since I had paid just a couple of days back, if they could refund it, I would do a 3 month renewal followed by a 12 month renewal. Sadly, the support person didn't care for either of my options.

Seems a little unfair to me; I mean, I see the rationale behind requiring a 12 month ownership first, but, if I am willing to "make up" the 12 months by paying for an additional 3 months now (essentially, paying for 15 months to get 3 extra months for free), shouldn't OVH accept it?

Thanks,
